After a year like no other, distillery is Campaign Magazine’s EMEA Independent Agency of the Year 2020

If you’re all about making great content, then having your stories make an impact in the world is the best reward of all.

Achieving recognition within the industry we love is an added benefit, and we’d never say no to an award. That’s why we were absolutely blown away to learn that distillery was the winner of Campaign Magazine’s EMEA Independent Agency of the Year Award.

We were selected by a panel of judges hailing from companies as varied as Samsung, Klarna, McKinsey, Coca-Cola, Patagonia, and Mastercard, and are enormously proud to have won in the face of some stiff competition such as We Are Social and Media Monks. We certainly couldn’t have got there without our dedicated team across EMEA and APAC, something also reflected by the panel’s decision to shortlist our Head of Copy, Sam Hepburn, for Campaign’s Creative Person of the Year.

Video and moving image projects have been at the forefront at some of our biggest social impact campaigns, allowing us to tell meaningful stories about important issues such as water shortages and plastic pollution.

At the Digiday Video & TV Awards 2021, distillery’s own Louise King won Video Executive of the Year for her work coordinating all of our video projects.

Notably, Lou oversaw our video team’s 2-week video campaign for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Coronavirus Appeal, a video campaign that helped raise more than £25M for the world’s most vulnerable people during COVID-19. distillery was also shortlisted in three other categories, including Best Video Ad Tech Innovation (for our video personalisation platform voundry), Best Social Video Campaign (for our work with Lil-let’s), and Best Ad (for our work with Arden’s).

We are happy to say that it doesn’t stop there. We picked up a number of honours at the AVA Digital Awards. These focus on commending creative approaches in digital media and looking for innovative ways to engage audiences where technology and digital art meet. At distillery, we’re doing just that, cutting through the noise with smart content that works harder for your brand.

Pushing the boundaries of digital creation with voundry

With our content personalisation engine voundry, we’re helping brands forge a deeper relationship with their audience by putting the personal touch back into content. At the AVA Digital Awards, voundry received the Platinum Award for best personalisation engine in the “Digital Video Creation” category. Want to see it in action?

And that’s not all for voundry: our voundry-powered personalisation campaign for WaterAid received a Gold Award in the “Web-Based Production” subcategory “Fundraiser”. By delivering thousands of personalised videos, we made its annual WaterAid Water Challenge an even bigger success in 2020. You can read about it here.

Our work for non-profit organisations pays off in so many other ways, but awards are a nice bonus, too. With our video project for the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, we received the “Video Production” Gold award in the subcategory “Environmental Issue”. Here’s how we did it.

And there’s more: an honourable mention went to our Coronavirus Appeal for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), a video campaign that helped raise more than £18M for the world’s most vulnerable people during COVID-19.

We’re not (just) in it for the awards, but we’re proud to represent our brands and partners with campaigns that make a difference, and leave a mark. We’re happy to share these achievements with our clients, and we couldn’t have done it without the support and passion from the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, WaterAid and the DEC. Our mutual success motivates us to do even more in 2021, and we can’t wait to create more amazing content.
