60 years in 60 seconds
How do you capture 60 years of life-saving disaster relief in just 60 seconds? How do you begin to condense the footage of over 75 appeals across more than 60 countries to tell the story of one of the UK’s best-known charities in less than a minute?
That was the challenge distillery faced when the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) asked us to mark its 60th anniversary with a film showcasing its extraordinary work.
Fortunately, having worked closely with the DEC on many campaigns over the last eight years, our knowledge of its archive meant we knew just where the treasure lay. We set about liaising with stakeholders, partners, member charities and broadcasters to bring 60 years of the DEC’s humanitarian work to life.
With animated text and audio clips, we built an inspirational narrative over kaleidoscopic footage of the DEC’s most memorable appeals. The result was not just a retrospective of the DEC’s remarkable achievements to date, but a celebration of the impact the organisation is having today on the lives of millions of people around the world, and the impact it will continue to have over the years to come.
60 years in 60 seconds: our flagship film left the viewers with a sense of achievement for the difference they’ve made so far, while motivating them to support the DEC’s life-changing work long into the future, whenever and wherever there’s a need.
